SUMMARY:Nightjar and Heathland Guided Walk
DESCRIPTION:Following the popularity and success of last years guided walks\, the Wildlife Wise team would like to invite you on an evening guided walk through one of our rarest and most threatened habitats. Lowland heathlands flourish on Suffolk’s nutrient-poor\, acidic soils which supports rare birds\, such as nightjar and woodlark which nest on the ground. \nThe walks are very much tailored for the complete beginner who would like to learn more about heathland habitats and the birds and wildlife we share this wonderful wild open space with. It is also an opportunity to meet the passionate rangers from the Wildlife Wise team. \nWe cannot guarantee what we may see but we hope to at least hear the elusive nightjar at dusk\, weather permitting. \nDogs are welcome on short leads. This is required to prevent disturbance to the ground nesting birds\, which can ultimately reduce the chances of breeding success. This request is also in line with legal requirements (under the CROW Act) for public access on the heathland we are visiting. \nWe meet at the Upper Hollesley Common Car Park (what3words: ///sourcing.disclose.ranches). Please bring suitable footwear and clothing for a gentle stroll. Binoculars if you have them (we have small number to share amongst the group) and a torch if possible for returning to car park after dusk.
